So you want to start an Internet Radio Station?

Last updated summer 2007. Covers the latest stream software versions with more detailed step by step instructions and screenshots. Radio Free Peterborough recognizes the generosity of Kate Story whose donation enabled us to release this updated version. Thanks Kate!

You've always wanted your own radio station. Well if you're reading this, and you listen to music on your computer, you're most of the way there. If you're running Windows and you're on a high speed connection, you're already almost ready to start broadcasting online. All the software you need is completely free. Anyone can download it from the Internet and create their own station - even if you're not a technical person.

We don't believe in keeping the fruits of our research and sweat to ourselves. We want to save you the trouble of all the work we did to get RFP up and running. If you read our D.I.Y. document you'll know pretty much everything we do about running your own station.

If RFP is anything to go by, running an Internet Radion Station is a lot of fun. We want to see small town microbroadcasting pop up wherever there are computers on dsl or cable connections.

It's easier than you'd think. Just try it. How much more fun can you have for $0?

Get the Official Radio Free Peterborough Guide To Starting Your Own Radio Station. It's all totally free.

We'd like it if you told us about your project so we can link to you, but that's optional. Go forth and broadcast! Start your own global radio broadcast from your living room.
