Ukuleles For Peace - Day Six
This evening we had a rehearsal with the orchestra in Tira. We walked in and were greeted by a gang of kids working on a dance routine to one of the songs; everyone seems to be extra-enthusiastic now that they realize what's involved in making a recording - the kids have all put in a very impressive amount of effort in the week that I've been here. Maybe they're not quite ready for Carnegie Hall, but give them another couple of years. The unfortunate thing about the school in Tira is that the acoustics are terrible - most of what i recorded tonight sounds like it's being played in a fishbowl! So to spare your ears, here is a track we recorded last night. Three of the girls have worked out the ukulele chords for "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" (a song I often play live myself), and have translated it all into Hebrew. The mp3 below, bear in mind, is just a practice - we'll get a polished version out of them soon! I'm going to Jerusalem tomorrow for the weekend, so this will be the last post until Sunday.
